Welcome back to the Spotlight BACC! Yup, it’s another one-part update. I was still sick when I played through them, and still taking fewer photos.
I didn’t take a family photo until after Kirsten had aged up. In my defense, it was…. it was a time I was going through.
But anyway, here’s the newly blended household: Isaac, Elliott, Diane, Sofia, Maci, Kirsten, Ginny, and Nina. Elliott, Ginny, Isaac, and Nina are Maci’s children, and Diane and Kirsten are Sofia’s daughters.
Their reference pages: The Household Guide and The Extended Family Guide.
I built an entirely new house for Maci and Sofia, and spent their week building it up over time. Unfortunately I didn’t take a lot of pictures of the house, but one of these days I might film some house tours, if you’re interested in seeing that! And in the meantime I can certainly do some posts with house pictures.
Nina and Kirsten christened the house with, what else, a dance party!
The house has way more space for club meetings than Maci’s former house did, that’s for sure.
All but one of the six children in residence here have the Creative aspiration, so two art tables were a necessity. (I could have used a third, to be honest!)
A new house and a new partner weren’t the only life changes for Maci–I decided to have her be the sim to take the Detective slot! It seemed fitting since her ex-husband is the neighborhood Criminal. I’ve been dying to play through the Detective career, so I’m really glad that I finally have the chance to do it.
To my complete lack of surprise, Lancelot was one of the witnesses at Maci’s first crime scene.
But I was very surprised to discover that the crime in question was that Candy’s house had been broken into and vandalized! Who would do this to my beloved vibrant DJ princess!!!!!?????
Maci’s fourth-wall-breaking knowing look amuses me to no end every time I see this picture, honestly.
Did I have to delete a whole lot of random pictures of Maci on the job that I took at the time just because they looked cool? Yes, yes I did.
Gotta say I am very impressed at how this randomly generated sim turned out. I mean, other than her whole life of crime life choices.
That moment when your period starts while you’re meeting with the Police Chief on your first day at work. Poor Maci.
HEY don’t you break the fourth wall at me young lady!!
Diane was the first sim to get in her required hours of violin time but not, sadly, the last.
I think the kids are all adjusting to living together just fine. ❤
Though that was their last opportunity for cute Toddler hugs with Kirsten since she aged up to a Child! She randomized the Genius trait and is yet another kid with the Artistic Prodigy aspiration.
Look at these cute sims having this cute conversation in this cute bathroom.
This is just one of those shots I included because I really like it.
Natalie, I don’t know why you’ve suddenly developed a penchant for supervising closet woohoo, but please choose a new hobby.
Elliott bonding with his beloved dad. ❤
So on Maci’s second day of work she had to go on patrol…… and the game brought her here.
By the time she moved on to the rest of her workday she needed a nap, and who can blame her.
Thus refreshed, she arrested the guy who vandalized Candy’s house!
…. aaaaaand Lancelot was hanging out at the precinct when she got back.
Another day, another shot of both activity tables being used by my little Artistic Prodigies.
Aaaaaand another Artistic Prodigy on the violin. >.<
Naomi is a stronger woman than I am, that’s for sure.
I admit, I really enjoy taking pictures of sims gathering around the kitchen table.
Lancelot isn’t the only Spotlight resident who’s decided the precinct is the new town hotspot.
I have a lot of questions about Maci’s second crime scene.
My #1 question is, of course, WHY WAS CANDY’S HOUSE VANDALIZED AGAIN???!!!
While Maci and I were on the job, I got a pop-up notifying me that Sofia won the lottery!! I immediately transferred 900,000 simoleons to the community fund, and was able to add a few lots to the save. As seen here, one of them was a community pool! The others were a library, a lounge, and a train station.
The train station is one of those rules that I’ve created for myself–I decided that in order to unlock San Myshuno, the community needed to have a train station lot, to create the idea that they would travel to the city via train. So now they can go to San Myshuno, which unlocks a number of jobs, including the Athletic career, the Start-Up Entrepreneur career, and both branches of the Social Media career. Soon I’ll do a post detailing my rules for unlocking careers and neighborhoods.
All of my community lots and player-run business lots are actually found on the Gallery. I’m planning to do a giant post crediting each of them, too.
I was able to use the remaining $100,000 (well, more like $30,000 of it) to finish up decorating the Redmond-Bjergsen house, at least for now! I didn’t take any household pictures, but like I said, I can do a post about it one day.
If that’s not love I don’t know what is. (And yes, I did replace the TV shortly afterwards.)
Breakfast before school with most of the kiddos!
I have to say, I’m really enjoying playing through the Detective career. I’m glad this save has finally given me the chance to do so!
The Town Council gathering gave Charles the opportunity to hang out with his daughter, Diane.
It was apparently exhausting for him, or maybe he’s just worn out because he’s apparently become the Town Council leader??? I hadn’t realized it, but I guess Naomi lost her leadership role after she, you know, temporarily died.
And here’s the only Town Council gathering shot I got, apparently.
Saturday morning started out with some nice family time in the big living room area. (I’m not happy with how it looks, to be honest, but I don’t really have any ideas for what to do with it. Maybe I’ll be feeling more inspired the next time I play them.)
I was hoping that the weather would be better in Newcrest than it was in Willow Creek so that Maci and Sofia could have their wedding, but no such luck.
However, I was bound and determined to get them married this rotation, and really sick of storms thwarting my wedding plans. I’ll take this eyesore down when I am able to add an indoor wedding venue to the save, but until then it’s staying up. I’m really over my weddings getting rained out. >.<
Rain aside, the ceremony started out the way it meant to go on–real cute.
Other than whichever guest was on their period, apparently.
I’m so, so glad that I thought to pair these two up because they’re so sweet together. It’s really nice to see Maci in such a darling relationship after the way things went with Lancelot.
Missed narrative moment of the update–Maci reflecting that she knows and trusts that this marriage is the one that’s going to last.
Once again, for the most part the audience behaved themselves reasonably well.
Well, Nina got temporarily possessed there at the end, but these days it just wouldn’t be an update without at least one sim breaking the laws of gravity, physics, and general existence.
… and I’ve long since given up wondering why sims in this save can’t keep their clothes on.
Maci and Sofia decided not to let a little thing like a thunderstorm stop them from being romantic.
Most of the guests decided to stay undercover, though.
I did say “most”!
I can’t decide who suffered more–Siobhan, who apparently got struck by lightning at some point; Naomi, who judging from how she was carrying on almost the entire time was in the midst of a really difficult menstrual cycle; or me, who had to listen to yet another child play the violin.
Maci’s life changes weren’t over yet–it was time for her to become an Adult, too! (No, I didn’t forget to age up Natalie, Lancelot, and Sofia–Natalie and Lancelot are younger than their siblings, so I’m going to age them up in rotation 12, and since Sofia was a Teen when Siobhan was a Young Adult I thought it would make sense to wait until rotation 13 to age her up.) I liked how Maci’s wedding hair looked so much that I decided to make it her permanent new hairstyle for her Adult stage.
A whole lot of my sims rolled the wants to make friends in this household, but my favorite new friendship was Kirsten Bjergsen and Harrison Morgan. They both have the Genius trait, and I just really enjoy the thought of them being Geniuses together.
And I’ll go ahead and end the update with a shot of Lancelot being a good dad with Nina. I was really slack about having Lancelot, Jaxson, and Charles over to spend time with their kids, but I’ll have to work on that in the next rotation.
